Our very first customers, Lisa and Malcolm. What a stunning day it was, i’m not sure if I can say a ‘Typical Scottish’ summers days as the sun was actually present all day long. This was back when our bookings were a bit more sporadic than they are now a days, we had only set Ashveil up a few months prior to this wedding so we were very much still in our infancy stage and because everyone books so far in advance now, we didn’t have too many dates locked in. Kyle did the driving for Lisa and her Bridesmaids himself, he was a little stressed to start with but everything went without a hitch (no pun intended) and Lisa and Malcolm were both over joyed with our VW Splitscreen. We’ve said in the past that this wedding was likely what catapulted the car hire part of our business. Now, Falside Mill on a dull day is stunning but it’s out of this word when the sun hits just right and it was hitting right for Lisa and Malcolm. Malcolm unfortunately pulled the short straw and had to make his own way to the venue with his Groomsmen, bad luck! We met Lisa and her Bridesmaids at The Fairmont St. Andrews, after some photos we got everyone in and hit the road. It’s not a far a drive, only 10-15 minutes or so so it wasn’t long before Lisa was met with her Dad who was there to help her out the car and walk her down the stunningly decorated isle. There’s a funny story as to why Lisa’s Dad Bob wasn’t with her in the car. Bob was actually meant to be driving Lisa himself, our Splitscreen was only hired for the Bridesmaids. Bob had spent all morning prepping his car, he had even gone to the bother of placing ribbon on the car which matched Lisa’s bouquets. So, we got the Bridesmaids in our bus and were about to set off when it was made clear that Lisa wasn’t getting in to Bobs two door, sports coupe Jag.. the wedding dress didn’t have enough give in it to let Lisa get low enough to get in the car. Oh no! But with a bit of manoeuvring we were able to spin our front passenger seat around and squeezed everyone in. Bob followed with Carol, Mother of the Bride and met us at the venue, disaster averted.
As it does with many, the camper matched Lisa’s colour scheme perfectly and looked fantastic sitting outside Falside Mill. After the Ceremony we got the bus parked up ready for the professional wedding photos to get photos of all the guests in front of our bus.
Not only were Lisa and Malcolm blessed with a beautiful summers day they also got the most wonderful sunset, the photographers didn’t hesitate and took full advantage of this and our bus to create the most special Husband and Wife photoshoot outside the venue.
I think we’ve said this before somewhere, however we really can’t think of wedding cars that are better suited to these types of venues. They give a real sense of nostalgia that we think helps put your day in to perspective, slow down, look around you and enjoy the moment.
Thank you both for allowing us to play a small, but important part in what was such a magical and long awaited wedding celebration! We are so grateful for you supporting our small family run business.
